First rainy night

This is, believe it or not, the first rainy night in recent memory. Quite a few anomalies. More doors and lights than usual--busy day with lots of people visiting the church. Campers on both the Harvard and Seneca upper entryways. It sucked to ask them to move on, into the rain. At least, one took the R.O.A.R. guide booklet I offered him, and both did move.

The most troubling thing is that the blower for our Sanctuary pipe organ is on, blowing away with lots of rattly machinery. Normally, it's only on (afaik) while someone is actually playing the organ. If bad things happen to it when left on for (probably) 12 straight hours, they'll happen just before the organ is scheduled for use in Sunday's worship. I called the only known our-church organist for whom I have a non-office number, and left voicemail. If he can call me back tonight, he can guide me through the shut-down process. Probably, it's just knowing which switch is where. I don't want to go rooting around in the organ console tonight, and risk messing up some delicate setting in an effort to switch the thing off--pipe organs are finicky.

Undoubtedly, whatever happens is what will turn out.

Peace, I hope.

Yet another

A light or two, a door or two. Peaceful.

Interesting problem

This evening, an organist was practicing, just as the League of Women Voters was hosting an event in Fellowship Hall. It turns out that the PA system from the Sanctuary, where the organ was playing, was on, and adding the organ, via microphones in the Sanctuary, to the speakers' PA in Fellowship Hall. The organist and I managed to fix this by sliding down a fader on the Sanctuary's sound board, but not without some trepidation at touching the controls of our vast and mysterious sound system.

Later in the evening, everything was peaceful. A few doors, a few lights, no campers.

Peace

Semi-quiet night

A door or two. A young camper, who was slow to leave. Somebody took his backpack, which he had left on the Harvard upper entryway. I met him on the Seneca entryway, looking for all his stuff. I explained that the other entryway looked the same, and sure enough that was where he had camped. Without his backpack, he had an obviously hard time getting his stuff together and leaving. He had a friend nearby. I gave him a ROAR guide, and finally (after 45 minutes or so of futzing around), watched him depart.

Peaceful, mostly

Nothing out of the ordinary last night except the coffeemaker. It was left on, at "brew" temperature. I turned it off before anything got out of hand.
